I had 2,5 really good days away from TV, laptop, phone and study stuff most of the time, but spent a lot of time on the sofa reading and listening to music. In Germany most people mainly celebrate Christmas Eve, so that’s when you have a big dinner, exchange presents, read the Bible, sing Christmas songs etcetc and many Germans would even refer to the 24th as “Christmas”. In my Mom’s tradition Christmas started late at night of the 24th after the midnight Mass, and was rather celebrated on the 25th and 26th. So we’re doing a mix of both, on the 24th we’re exchanging the presents (most important thing *rollseyes*), have only a simple (but delicious) meal and spend the evening together around the Christmas tree. Then we attend the Mass and Christmas officially starts. A few years ago we started eating out with some friends, the First Christmas Day and we’ve kept up with this tradition since then. A few more have joined, mostly elderly single/widowed friends of the parents, but this year for the first time also a boyfriend, so we’ve become a decent group. The rest of the day was spent on the sofa as mentioned above and the Second Christmas Day we visited my uncle, aunt, cousin and family. Getting back to studying today was really hard and not very effective… Here are a few pictures – “Christ Child” (we don’t have “Santa” here, but “Christkind” who brings the presents - that refers to little Jesus as well as some blonde angel at the same time – don’t ask me…) brought me a new camera, I’m so happy and “had” to test it, of course!!
